What is Service Request With USCIS
While going through EAD process I came across this term - Service Request Or SR as people call it. I am not doing my EAD through attorney and so I have to figure out everything from various articles on the USCIS site. Believe me, USCIS site is the ultimate source of information that one needs but sometimes I want to have a quick reference to what I read/understood to avoid the trouble of reading everything again.
In short, below points would summarize Service request,
- It is an inquiry made to USCIS to track case (e.g. Visa, EAD)
- It is useful when someone needs an update on their case from USCIS
- It can be raised by anyone - Applicant, their Employer or Attorney.
- It can be raised online or by calling USCIS
- It can be raised for various reasons, such as:
- Case outside normal processing time
- Did not receive notice by mail
- Did not receive card by mail
- Did not receive document by mail
- Take Appointment
- Raise any typographic error
All the best
