How to Apply L2 EAD

Filing your EAD is a task in itself, I have been through L2 EAD twice. Earlier the response from USCIS was time bound, lately it has changed. I got mine in about 120 days but I hear wait could be longer.

Here are some tips that may help you with filing.

You need not go to USCIS service center in person ( at least this is the case till Sep-18). When you have to do it without visiting, send all the possible documents along with pay check to your USCIS service center. [You can find your service center form USCIS site]

Documents to send to USCIS
  1. Filing fee - Check/Cheque
  2. G-1145 form
  3. I-765 form
  4. L1 approval notice
  5. Copy of Passport for self
  6. Copy of I-94 for self
  7. Copy of Passport for L1 Beneficiary
  8. Copy of I-94 for L1 Beneficiary
  9. Marriage Certificate
  10. Two photographs for self
  11. Copy of SSN (if available)
  12. Copy of old EAD card (if available)
  13. Cover Letter
  14. L1 beneficiary salary slips - I haven't sent them but heard that few people got RFE asking this.

Tips:

1) Always download new form I-765 from USCIS site.

2) Always validate the latest filing fee from USCIS site and give a check. Follow below tips while writing check.
  1. Write the date on check in U.S. Date format: month/day/year. (Example: January 4, 2017 or 1/4/17, but not 4/1/17.)
  2. Check should be  "Pay to the Order of" :  "U.S. Department of Homeland Security." Do verify this on USCIS site.
  3. Write a brief description of the purpose of your payment and include the applicant’s name in the memo line like "I-765 application fee for <Your Name> "
  4. Sign the check using your legal name.
All the best!!
